Highway Department
The Kingsbury County Highway Department is responsible for the construction, repair, and year-round maintenance of the county's transportation infrastructure, helping ensure safe and reliable travel for residents, businesses, emergency services, and visitors. The department maintains approximately 350 miles of county roads, including 112 miles of asphalt roads, 86 miles of blotter roads, and 152 miles of gravel roads. From snow removal and ice control during the winter months to road grading, drainage improvements, bridge maintenance, signage, and seasonal repairs, the Highway Department works diligently to keep the county's road system in safe operating condition. The department is administered by the Highway Superintendent, who is appointed by the Kingsbury County Board of Commissioners and oversees daily operations under the direction of the Board.
